Blackbirds and Woodpeckers welcomed Konflux theatre company to their classrooms this half term to take part in Play in a Day. Play in a Day play workshops are an interactive way of encouraging learning and creativity. The way in which Play in a Day is designed allows for everyone in the class to take part.

All pupils were involved in their own way and were encouraged to share their talents and work as a group to support each other. As the name suggests, the idea is to try and get the whole class to perform a short play that they have learnt and rehearsed that day.

Blackbirds performed a piece based on The Great Fire of London which is linked to their history unit of work this half term. Woodpeckers performed their version of The Tempest, their core text for this term. Both classes performed their plays to other classes in the school. They were also both heavily praised by the theatre company for their behaviour, their dedication to the performance and their bravery to perform it to others.

Giving pupils an experience of performing for each other builds confidence, social skills and collaborative qualities. Coming together to understand your role in a large production is a fantastic experience which we have been proud to provide for our Stradbroke pupils.
